[Orange Peel]

[Orange Peel]

In this barren stage of solitude’s embrace,
In the theater of forgotten dreams,
Peel an orange,
or dust off sorrow’s trace,
In this realm where hope’s dimly gleams.

From the depths of your pocket,
retrieve,
The handkerchief stained with silent tears,
And blow your nose,
as if to deceive,
In this world of loneliness years.

If perchance,
an idea dares to stir,
Address the void with hollow cheer,
Multiplicity of self,
a somber blur,
In this tragic theater,
drawing near.

Speak amidst the echo of an orange’s sigh,
Or mundane tasks that grip the heart,
Tell them what they are,
what you deny,
In this melancholic stage,
worlds apart.

Decrepit heir of a waning star’s glow,
Do you,
in solitude,
silently weep,
That you and your audience are one,
in woe,
In this desolate theater,
eternally steep?

Superciliousness veils the actor’s face,
Towards those who witness his pain,
Yet to oneself, in this desolate place,
A tragedy unfolds, a relentless rain.

And so,
upon this stage of endless sorrow,
Where roles merge into a sea of despair,
The decay of what might have been tomorrow,
In God’s first declaration,
laid bare.
